About Destiny

Destiny Boonah Eco Cottages and Donkey Farm is a unique Eco-Conservational Tourism initiative managed by Heike Mack-Behle, her family and a wonderful selection of volunteers. Destiny Boonah was started as a way to contribute and aid in conservation of donkeys while enjoying and showcasing the amazing natural Australian landscape and wildlife via Eco Boutique Accommodation. Destiny Boonah is a truly unique eco therapy experience that caters for every holiday type including educational family holidays, romantic couples escapes, group holidays, adventurous types looking to get away from the city and immerse themselves in the Australian flora and fauna, bushwalkers and hikers looking to traverse the various mountains of the ranges, water lovers visiting Lake Moogerah and at the heart of it all any person from any walk of life looking to experience an eco adventure that is new and one-of-a-kind where they will feel as safe and relaxed as they are at home. The natural landscape means that while the cottages and donkey farm are situated on our 200 acre block they are close to each other in proximity and separated visually by the vast mountain incline. You are actually in your own little piece of paradise that you don't have to share! How you spend your time with us is totally up to you; explore the foodie way with local wineries and farms, climb mountains and hike landscapes, go waterskiing and fishing or relax with a picnic at our lookouts or in your cottage.

Donkey Farm

The Destiny Boonah Donkey Farm is todays home for many rescued donkeys. Every donkey has it’s own rescue story to tell. When we discovered the docile and friendly nature of donkeys we fell in love with these very special animals immediately. Our large donkey family clearly loves greeting every new arriving visitor, something which has been a real experience for young and old.

Nature and Wildlife

Destiny Boonah is officially registered as ‘Land for Wildlife’. To help fund this precious piece of wildlife paradise, we will give a limited number of responsible families the chance to experience life in the wild and enjoy nature at its best. Every effort is made to create a safe and inviting environment for our local wildlife including the kangaroos, koalas, ‘pretty face’ wallabies, possums, geckos, goannas, and a host of other native birds and animals who already consider Destiny Boonah their home.

Eco Tourism

Destiny Boonah is entirely ‘Off The Grid’. What does that mean? We power our own energy needs via solar energy that is converted and stored in batteries so we never run out – even on cloudy, rainy days. In addition to our state of the art energy storage we run our one of a kind ‘eco air-cons’ that make use of natural air cycles and some ‘Heike inventiveness’.
